Do teeth whitening products really work?

Or do they simply corrode away your enamel and do more harm than good?

Do teeth whitening products really work?
The ones bought over the counter in the uk aren't really strong enough to do any damage and by the same token they don't do a huge amount of good either, although they do get rid of some staining caused by coffee, red wine etc.
Reply:well i heard they aren't harmful, but then again not many work.
Reply:teeth whitening products bleach your teeth, they don't wear away enamel. But f you are unsure about this the best person to sk would be a dentist.
Reply:i spoke to a dentist at an Xmas party and i asked why my girlfriend paid £300 to get her teeth done at her dentist and i paid £10 on eBay , wots the difference , he replied , nothing , and he said it didn't really harm your teeth either !
Reply:Absolutely NOT... I have tried.. friends have tried.. It is just a gimmick to get money
Reply:Last night I acutally bought whitening strips for less than 20 dollars. I have them in right now, so far I see a little difference. But, as for the whole results, I won't know for another 13 days.
Reply:As we get older, teeth have a natural progression to go yellower.

Cosmetic dentistry is now more popular than ever.

Bleaching your teeth is very safe to do, but there are different ways to getting a "whiter" smile.

Your teeth will only whiten to their inherit colour and any fillings that are present will not change due to the material they are made from.

You can purchase the "paint on" from the supermarket but this doesn't stay on your teeth long enough and I find that it's a waste. This can be quite cheap, about $20.

The other option is to see your dentist and ask for "zoom" or laser bleaching. This is very expensive and could cost well over $1200. This takes about 1 hour in office and can make your teeth very very sensitive (I mean for days and days).

The best option I would suggest, is a home bleaching kit. Trays are made from moulds that are taken of your mouth and then a small amount of slow releasing peroxide paste is placed in the trays and inserted into your mouth. This process takes about 1 hour and is done everyday for up to 10 days.

The good thing about this is that is costs aout $300 and you will always have the trays. You can purchase "top up" bleaching syringes if you notice that the shade has dropped back again or if you have a special occasion.

This is how I bleach my teeth and it works but remember not to eat or drink anything for a couple of hours otherwise you are just chasing your tail. Avoid red wine, tea/coffe, tobacco and spicy foods as these will stain your teeth whilst bleaching.

Happy New Year!
Reply:It'll work if a dentist does it for you. If you buy them in a chemist, or like a friend of mine, get the stuff off a dentist to do yourself at home they don't seem to work. My friend paid 200euro for the stuff and it made no difference at all. Waste of money!!
Reply:no, not many do some whiten a little but your teeth come out the same though.

some whiten when you smile like those other times so be real careful that the toothpaste is minty those are the whitening ones you know.

so get Colgate toothpaste those can really whiten teeth get the one with baking soda it really works.
Reply:not really .its a way to make money
