Are all whitening products bad for your teeth?

my teeth are already bad, in the process of restoring, but i would really like to get rid of coffee stains but don't want to be undoing what i've been doing?

What they are doing is basically bleeching your teeth back to the color they were before staining. Normally use peroxide or baking soda. I would assume they would also use ultra violet light at the dentist office and use stronger formulas of the baking soda and peroxide than you can get in the stores.
Reply:not all of the whitening products are bad for you teeth. the best bet is to go to the dentist and get it whitened.
Reply:ya because they erode away the top stained layer of you r enamel. teeth enamel is not replaced naturally and you cud get hypersensitivity thatis not able to have hot or cold thing in mouth.

Reply:Some whitening products are worse that others and all do a little damage and long term effects are not known because they have not been in general use long enough.


Therefore you should remove coffee stains with toothpaste. Brush correctly and keep going till they are gone. Sure, it might take a while.


If you have temporary restorations that are stained, you might mess them up. So don't brush so hard on those.
Reply:no of course, but its a type of medicine that must be used by professions, that is a dentist otherwise it will be bad.. some patients may experience sensitivity at the day of bleaching while other do not but that is normal...
Reply:It's not the idea that whitening is bad...It's the fact that people use them so much that when it's time to have some teeth restored and we have to put a tooth colored filling in, we won't be able to find a match to your teeth because teeth aren't originally white, they have a tan color to it. That's why it's kind of bad for companies to advertise super white teeth because our materials can only do light tan colors. You understand?
