Are there any teeth whitening products that actually work?

they all work to some degree. First you should know that the carbamides (the active chemical in whiteners) are neuclear modifiers and have not been in general use long enough to determine their long term safety.

The next thing you should know is their limitations. They will not change yellowing teeth due to aging. Because that color is due to the dentin showing through the enamel. They will do nothing for certain stains like dental flourosis. Iron stains and very deep stains are not helped. Stains due to drugs (like antibiotics) are most often not helped.

The other problem is that it is difficult for a person to get the teeth clean enough for it to work and dryness is a problem also. That is why dentist applied treatments work better and the dentist can use heat also.

Still you can try with strips or mouthpieces, and if you get results; great.

Another problem is that results can be patchy and not permanent.

yeah, but the good ones arent' cheap.
Reply:I've used the Crest Whitening strips and seen good results in as little as a week. The trick is to have your teeth professionally cleaned before you use the whitener. Otherwise you will be whitening plaque...
